Learning Objectives
By the end of this class, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate a safe and effective warm-up routine specific to climbing, including mobility, activation, and injury prevention techniques.
- Apply proper climbing fundamentals, including controlled breathing, shoulder engagement, and lower body utilization.
- Exhibit proper falling techniques and confidence in bouldering environments.
- Use precise footwork techniques, showing improved balance, control, and efficient movement on the wall.
- Identify and perform basic strength and conditioning exercises for climbing, including shoulder stability, core engagement, and introductory pulling and finger strength.
- Demonstrate improved endurance through sustained climbing efforts and pacing strategies.
- Engage core muscles effectively, particularly while climbing overhang terrain.
- Interpret and "read" climbing routes, making informed decisions about movement and sequencing.
- Execute dynamic movements, including deadpoints, with increased coordination and confidence.
- Integrate learned skills to attempt and complete more complex climbs, including overhang problems.
- Assess climbing difficulty (grades) and reflect on personal performance and progression.
